About the role
What To Expect We are looking for a highly motivated, “hands-on” individual to join our Mechanical Assembly Team for the assembly of a new generation of high speed, automated manufacturing equipment. The role includes mechanical assembly of machine components, interpreting mechanical drawings and pneumatic schematics, machining of parts, machine start-up, testing and debug and travel for machine installation and commissioning support.
Shift: Monday–Thursday 3:30 PM–1:00 AM, Friday 2:30 PM–11:00 PM. The afternoon shift includes a 10% shift premium.
What You'll Do- Assembly of precision machine components with some machining of parts (milling, turning, and use of surface grinders) as required
- Ability to read and interpret detailed mechanical drawings, assembly drawings and vendor component drawings
- Moving, staging, installing heavy part/assembly components using appropriate lifting/rigging techniques and equipment
- Mechanical systems start-up, testing, debug and commissioning
- Installation and troubleshooting of machines on-site and other Tesla facilities
- Adhering to strict 5S standards and maintain cleanliness on the floor and within automation cells
- Other duties as assigned What You'll Bring- Degree or Certificate in Mechanical Technology, Toolmaking or Machining, Millwright, completed apprenticeship, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of proven experience in assembly of custom automated machinery or other precision mechanical assembly with ability to read & interpret engineering drawings, mechanical drawings and pneumatic schematics
- Familiar with basic hand tools, power tools and basic measuring tools (Vernier, micrometers, height gauge etc.) to tolerances of 0.0254mm (0.001”). Must bring your own tools
- Familiar with operation of machine shop equipment (lathe / mill / surface grinder / cut off, band saw)
- Requirement to travel 30 - 60% domestically and international. Flight, food, and lodging are covered. Must have and maintain a valid passport
- Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal
