About the role
We currently have an opening for an Image Desk Appraiser within our Claims department. This role is based out of our Edmonton office. While working alongside members of the internal appraisal team, this role will assist in controlling vehicle repair costs and ensuring adherence to best practices in the repair of insured vehicles through the completion, review, and approval of repair estimates and total loss calculations using the image desk function. The Image Desk Appraiser will provide additional support by fielding and responding to questions from claims advisors and body shops.
What You'll Do:
- Review repair estimates in accordance with Peace Hills Insurance guidelines while ensuring both quality and cost control
- Provide guidance on the assessment and valuation of total-loss vehicles
- Oversee and manage the Image Desk function to confirm repair estimates through the Audatex/Qapter platforms
- Maintain strong working relationships with our partner Gold Medal Shops through ongoing communication about Peace Hills' processes and procedures
- Act as a resource for our adjusting teams by sharing knowledge of the appraisal and vehicle repair process and providing support and guidance
- Provide training and job knowledge to the adjusting team as required
- Gain knowledge and experience in the emerging field of virtual and intelligent estimating to provide guidance on the implementation of these products
- Maintain relationships with vendors and third parties in the fields of vehicle damage estimating and repair
- Conduct desk assessments of damaged vehicles to produce accurate repair estimates
- Understand how the different insurance coverages and endorsements can impact claim settlements and be able to apply this knowledge to different vehicle damage scenarios
- Various other duties as required
What You'll Bring:
- Minimum of 3 years of auto industry related experience
- General knowledge of automobile damage repairs procedures
- Basic understanding of the insurance industry and the role of the appraisal within the claims process
- Educational courses taken through I-CAR and Vale are considered an asset
- Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to analyze complex repairs and provide solutions
- Proficiency in using and navigating digital estimating tool, including Audatex and Qapter, is considered an asset
- Possess highly developed interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
