About The Role We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Tax Analyst to join our dynamic team based in Ajax, Ontario. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to work within a world-class tax department that includes team members located in both The Woodlands, Texas, and Ajax, Ontario. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the company’s tax provision, compliance, audit processes, and strategic planning initiatives on a global scale. This position requires a proactive individual with strong analytical skills and a comprehensive understanding of international, federal, provincial, and local tax laws. The Senior Tax Analyst will be instrumental in ensuring accurate tax reporting, compliance, and strategic tax planning, contributing to the overall financial health and regulatory adherence of the organization.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, with additional credentials such as a CPA designation or a Master’s in Taxation being preferred. Candidates should have between 2 to 4 years of experience working within a tax department of a public accounting firm or a large corporation, especially with complex or large corporate tax provisions. Experience with large corporate tax environments and familiarity with tax software such as TaxPrep is highly desirable. Enrollment in or completion of the CPA In-Depth Tax Course will be considered an asset. Candidates must demonstrate strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills, along with excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Proficiency in MS Office and a solid understanding of tax regulations and reporting requirements are essential. Must be able to pass all pre-employment screening requirements.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly tax provisions in accordance with US GAAP standards, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable accounting principles.
- Prepare federal and provincial income tax returns, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
- Calculate and review monthly tax installments to ensure proper cash flow management and compliance.
- Prepare foreign reporting information returns for international affiliates, supporting compliance with cross-border tax obligations.
- Assist with the preparation of the Globe Income Return and other related filings to ensure adherence to international tax regulations.
- Prepare and file commodity tax returns, including GST/HST and other applicable indirect taxes.
- Respond to notices from CRA and provincial revenue agencies, coordinating with internal teams to resolve issues efficiently.
- Develop working papers and documentation to address inquiries during tax audits, supporting compliance and audit defense efforts.
- Stay informed of changes in tax laws, regulations, and rulings at the federal, provincial, and local levels to ensure ongoing compliance and strategic planning.
- Analyze business transactions and prepare internal memos and reports outlining their tax implications, providing valuable insights to management.
