Under the supervision of the Vice President of Finance, the incumbent supports the company’s tax activities by ensuring compliance, participating in tax planning, and contributing to the analysis of tax issues related to operations. In addition, they will perform various tasks related to tax accounting in accordance with established procedures and the prescribed deadlines under the various provincial and federal tax laws in Canada and the United States
What you will do
-
Coordinate the creation and implementation of an internal corporate tax compliance process;
-
Conduct tax research on various topics and analyze the Canadian and U.S. tax impacts of new legislation related to the companies’ cross border activities;
-
Analyze the U.S. tax implications (income taxes and sales taxes) of the company’s activities in the United States;
-
Coordinate and follow up with Canadian and U.S. tax authorities (information requests, audits, proposals and notices of assessment, adjustment requests);
-
Coordinate and assist in the preparation of the Group’s corporate income tax returns;
-
Advise on and support the implementation and monitoring of taxable benefits and sales tax measures required for the Group’s activities;
-
Ensure tax compliance through internal controls and recommend and implement corrective measures to optimize controls and reduce risks related to corporate taxation;
-
Work closely with various departments (legal, accounting, operations, logistics), both internally and externally, acting as a subject matter expert and key resource;
-
Provide timely support to internal stakeholders and assume a supervisory role over certain processes assigned by the Vice President of Finance;
-
Maintain up to date tax documentation and internal policies.

Contribute to training and information sharing with internal and external stakeholders;

Perform various analyses and prepare internal memorandums to document relevant matters;

Maintain and review documentation of tax positions related to sales tax, corporate income tax, and various investment tax credits;

Prepare and collaborate on the Group’s corporate tax provisions.
This role could be for you if you have
-
A degree in taxation, accounting sciences, management, or business administration;
-
A professional accounting designation (CPA);
-
A minimum of 5 years of relevant tax experience, ideally including experience in a public accounting firm;
-
The ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic and growing environment;
-
Strong time‑management skills and self‑motivation, with the ability to perform tasks in an orderly, rigorous, organized, and efficient manner;
-
The ability to exercise sound judgment, show initiative and autonomy, and demonstrate strong analytical skills.
