Overview of role:

WestJet is seeking a Program Manager, People Services to join our Calgary office. This individual will exhibit a high standard of excellence, enjoys challenges, and is results-driven. Reporting to the Senior Manager-People & Payroll Services, this Program Manager is responsible for the processes and programs related to People Services, Human Resource transactions, and employee recognition. The incumbent must be highly motivated and demonstrate the ability to work in an agile environment.

**Note:**This program manager will be dedicated to work alongside a robust project team in the implementation of our new HR System, Dayforce, for the first 12 months in this role. A strong interest in HR technology and experience with Dayforce is an asset.

Key deliverables include:

  • Understand, assess, and work with the team to maintain service level commitments to all WestJetters

  • Monitor existing people services, Human Resource related transactions, legislated compliance and data accuracy controls

  • Collaborate with internal WestJet teams and external vendors to ensure administrative compliance to Human Resource programs, contract obligations, and policy adherence, including compliance with employment contracts and collective agreements, the Canada Labour Code, C-Sox requirements, and vendor and Partner airline contracts

  • Work alongside and coordinate the Travel Privileges Committee teams and work streams

  • Work alongside the subject matter experts and the Policy and Governance team to ensure the People policies and averaging agreements are up-to-date, compliant with legislation, collective agreements, and are being administered accordingly

  • Assess the current program(s), make recommendations, and develop and maintain an employee recognition program

  • Identify and implement, in collaboration with the People Technology support services team, opportunities to streamline processes and increase employee self-service

  • Support Labour Relations in the implementation of new collective agreement items as they impact the People Services programs

  • Complete project work alongside cross-functional teams where projects impact People Services processes and programs including but not limited to Onboarding system implementation and upgrades, Travel Privileges system implementation and upgrades, and Company integrations

Experience and qualifications:

  • Diploma or Bachlor’s Degree or equivalent experience

  • 6+ years Human Resource generalist experience

  • Strategic planning, change management, analytics and process development skills

  • Excellent time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills required

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Excellent analytical, attention to detail, problem solving, goal orientation, and relationship building skills

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

  • Ability to present ideas, negotiate, facilitate and problem solve

  • Team player – works to ensure team goals are met or exceeded

  • Demonstrate sound judgment regarding confidential and sensitive matters

  • Must provide high level of customer service to internal and external guests

  • High degree of diplomacy and good judgment along with the ability to maintain confidentiality
