Why is this role important?
In this role you will be working with Quality Assurance (QA) Team Lead and with our test automation specialist team to enable CIHI to attain significant progress in extending test automation to key applications. As a co-op student you will be involved in a variety of activities that support priority projects for our department, that help drive CIHI’s overall mandate to deliver on better data, better decisions, for healthier Canadians. This unique opportunity will expose you to areas of QA best practices and developing and implementing automated tests in a CI/CD pipeline.
What you'll do
- Achieve automated testing with the use of test automation tools such as Playwright and/or JMeter in the following areas: functional testing, API testing, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) testing, performance testing and orchestrating the execution of those tests in our CI/CD pipeline.
- Exposure to data pipeline test engineering using SQL, Python frameworks
- Review requirements and existing functional test cases, design automated tests, run tests, integration in CI/CD pipeline, report results, document defects and provide support to defect remediation activities.
- Store tests in Gitlab and document their design and execution.
What you'll bring to the table
- Working towards an undergraduate or a graduate program requiring Co-op as part of educational requirement in Quality Assurance or Computer Science.
- Knowledge and awareness in the application of QA methodologies and Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) for system development.
- A deep understanding of test automation approaches and techniques.
- An understanding of Cloud-based technologies is considered an asset.
- Experience with software development in Java or Typescript is an asset.
- Knowledge of database/SQLs is an asset
- Experience or projects with any data engineering tools like Python/data frames is an asset
- Some experience with or knowledge of the latest generation of Test Automation tools or other AI related tools is considered an asset.
- Proficient with office suite.
- Ability to communicate effectively to internal and external stakeholders both verbally and written.
- Ability to proactively think and communicate ideas to realization is considered as a strength.
- A self-starter, able to manage multiple tasks and prioritize appropriately.
