As a Security Operations Supervisor you will be responsible for providing leadership to frontline Security Guards and contracted security services. You will work collaboratively with Protective Services Section Leads and the Team Leads to plan for and respond to events as well as implement strategies to deliver the Security Operations Program. Primary duties include:
- Manage a team of Security Guards including coaching/mentoring, probationary reviews and formal discipline.
- Direct the daily operational deployment and work of resources during both regular operations and emergency situations.
- Develop operational and strategic plans forecasting operational requirements and reporting on the performance of the team to senior leadership and external partners.
- Oversee the security response to events and address concerns which escalate beyond the scope of Security Guards.
- Assume the Incident Command role during a wide range of emergency situations such as the evacuation of City facilities.
- Communicate with other City business Units and external partners to identify and implement guard service requests addressing concerns and notifying of security events/incidents.
- Develop and implement Standards, Standard Operating Procedures, Post Orders, Guard Service Requests and Event Plans that direct work and communicate expectations of Security Guards.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent (e.g. GED) with at least 5 years of experience in security or a related field; OR
- A completed 1 year certificate or diploma in Security Management, Police Foundations, Justice studies or a related with at least 3 years of experience as noted above.
- Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
- A valid Alberta Security Guard Licence is required.
- At least 6 months of experience in a supervisory role is preferred.
- Previous experience with digital video surveillance systems and software, telecommunication systems, emergency notification procedures, intrusion alarm, and CCTV monitoring systems.
- A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits or a Graduated Driver's License (GDL) with no more than 4 demerits, no current suspensions or charges pending.
- Successful candidates may be required to obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit.
- Current Standard First Aid, Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) Level 'C' and Automatic External Defibrillation (AED) certification.
- You have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work and think independently, along with the ability to work effectively with employees and the public at all levels.
Pre-employment Requirements
- An enhanced security clearance will be conducted.
- Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications and sign a confidentiality agreement.
**Note:**Successful applicants will be required to complete a comprehensive training program.

Compensation: Level A1 $100,531 - 125,664 per annum
Days of Work: This facility is a 24/7 operation,
days of work may include evenings, weekends, and
statutory holidays.
Hours of work: Non-standard 40 hour work week
