The opportunity: Reporting to the Director, Capital Markets, the Analyst, will support the Capital Markets team at Wellington-Altus by assisting with the coordination and distribution of new issue offerings, managing documentation for private placements, and helping maintain platform records.
The role includes conducting market research and competitive analysis to support product development, preparing internal communications and presentations, and processing subscription agreements and transactions in firm systems. This position offers exposure to capital markets operations and is ideal for someone looking to build foundational experience in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key responsibilities include: Relationship Management & Syndication Support
- Collaborating with the Director, Capital Markets, advisors, syndicate partners, issuers, and internal teams to support relationship-building and access to new issue opportunities.
- Assisting in coordinating and overseeing non-brokered private placements.
Reporting & Operational Support
- Supporting capital markets reporting functions, including deal tracking, revenue analysis, efficiency metrics, and deal flow forecasting.
- Helping facilitate the day-to-day operations of the Capital Markets department.
- Reporting on subscriptions and transaction activity to internal stakeholders.
- Coordinating with Operations and mid-office teams to resolve trade reconciliation issues.
Transaction Processing & Advisor Support
- Assisting with completing and processing subscription agreements and related documentation.
- Booking committed transactions into Wellington-Altus’ and NBIN’s order management systems.
- Providing guidance to advisors on trading processes and support execution as needed.
Research & Market Analysis
- Conducting market research, due diligence and competitive analysis to support strategic positioning and product development.
- Monitoring market news, economic indicators, and regulatory developments relevant to capital markets.
- Analyzing macroeconomic trends, industry dynamics, and specific securities or asset classes.
- Staying informed on financial regulations and maintain awareness of legal and ethical standards.
Communication & Strategic Collaboration
- Supporting the development of presentation materials to communicate research findings, investment ideas, and market insights.
- Participating in meetings and calls to present capital markets concepts and updates to internal stakeholders.
- Collaborating with portfolio managers, traders, investment bankers, and research teams to support new product development and strategic initiatives.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or similar field of study, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2 to 3 years of experience in capital markets, investment banking, or a related financial services environment.
- CSC or CFA designation considered an asset
- Previous experience as a Capital Markets Analyst or similar role is considered an asset.
- Proficiency with the MS Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
- Demonstrates a high level of accountability, adaptability, and innovation in achieving both day-to-day responsibilities and long-term goals.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent attitude and commitment to providing exceptional service.
- Exemplary interpersonal, influencing, and communication skills across multiple mediums (in-person, phone, virtual).
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
- Highly organized with a consistent and reliable work ethic.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and able to manage a high volume of competing priorities.
