A Brief Overview
Reporting directly into the Sr. Facilities Manager, the DC Safety Coordinator is responsible for maintaining a safe and compliant work environment across all areas of the distribution center. This role works closely with departments and leadership at all levels to develop, implement and sustain safety programs that reduce incidents, ensure OSHA compliance and build a strong safety culture. This position will ensure adherence to all safety compliance requirements and documentation of those safety requirements.
Leadership Responsibilities
This position does not have people leadership responsibilities.
What You'll Do
Safety Training and Employee Awareness- Support the Development and delivery of safety programs, safety topics new hire and contractor safety orientation. Coordinate with outside vendors to schedule certifications and training Hazard Assessment and Inspection-Conduct regular facility walkthroughs, identify risks, document findings and recommend corrections OSHA Compliance and Recordkeeping-Maintain incident logs, prepare reports and ensure regulatory compliance Ergonomic Program Management- Assess workstations, reduce repetitive strain injuries and implement ergonomic solutions. Incident Investigation-Respond to incidents and near misses, investigate root cause and implement corrective action. Safety Policy Development-Create and update safety procedures, work instructions and emergency protocols Safety Metrics and Reporting-Track KPIs like lost time injury frequency, develop dashboard and present to leadership Maintain and Audit safety product inventory Support with scheduling Departments Behavior Safety Observations Program and monthly department walks Support with other administrative duties as needed Adheres to all company policies and procedures Embodies and demonstrates company ethics and values Abides by all federal, state and local laws
How You'll Be Successful
Manual dexterity required: Must be able to use hands to finger; handle, feel and type; reach with hands and arms Must be able to see, hear, speak and read in order to communicate with other employees and/or other customers Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, climb ladders, some lifting Must be able to count Must be able to lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds without assistance Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
What You'll Need
Associate’s Degree (AA) Occupational Safety/Health/Environmental preferred or equivalent experience 1-2 years safety experience in a distribution center or manufacturing environment required 2-3 years Computer skills: Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, etc. Microsoft Outlook required OSHA 30-Hour General Industry preferred First Aid/CPR/AED preferred
