Equipment Labourer

(Winter Operations – 3 month contract)

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to contribute to the Transportation Division.

We are seeking qualified candidates to join our winter road and sidewalk operations team beginning in January. This position works Monday to Friday 40 hours per week and is required to be available or overtime and on-call as needed.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Removal of snow on roads, sidewalks, walkways and shared public areas, while providing exceptional customer service at all times.
  • Assist with litter picking, pothole repair and other general maintenance as needed.

Key Competencies and Qualifications:

  • An Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess a class G Ontario drivers license in good standing
  • Experience operating equipment such as conventional and articulating sidewalk tractors with attachments, pick up truck Plow with salters and other snow removal machinery is preferred.
  • Energetic and positive attitude while working in stressful and poor weather conditions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, professionally and courteously with all levels of staff, contractors and the general public
  • Ability to promote a culture of inclusiveness and work with a diverse population of employees, participants, agencies and the public.
  • Availability to work flexible hours as may be required and to be on call.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as a team.
  • Able to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record and Police Information Check upon hire.

The Town offers an hourly wage rate of $29.18 (International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 793).

Bradford West Gwillimbury is a town in south-central Ontario, in the County of Simcoe in the Toronto Census Metropolitan Area on the Holland River. West Gwillimbury takes its name from the family of Elizabeth Simcoe, née Gwillim. The former Town of Bradford was amalgamated with portions of the former Townships of West Gwillimbury and Tecumseth to become the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury on January 1, 1991.
