About the role

HR Officer Wellness, Health & Safety (Exempt) Term Position ( January 1, 2026 to June 30, 2026) Reporting to the Senior Manager, Wellness, Health and Safety, you, as the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting proactive processes and practices related to employee well-being and workplace safety. The position supports administration and case management of employee leaves, return to work plans, duty to accommodate requirements, stay at work programs, as well as WorkSafeBC reporting and compliance.

Responsibilities Include

  • Administration and case management of employee leaves, return to work plans, duty to accommodate requirements, and stay-at-work programs
  • Ensuring WorkSafeBC reporting and compliance
  • Implementing and monitoring programs that promote physical, mental and emotional well-being
  • Collaborating to identify wellness, health and safety needs and deliver targeted interventions
  • Supporting the Health & Safety Manager with workshops and training, particularly those focused on safety protocols, emergency procedures and prevention
  • Overseeing the administration of related employee leaves
  • Managing return-to-work plans, ensuring smooth transitions and appropriate accommodation
  • Maintaining accurate confidential records and documentation
  • Supporting employees requiring workplace accommodations
  • Liaising with managers, employees, and external providers to develop and implement effective accommodation strategies
  • Prepare and submit timely documentation
  • Stay current with legislative changes and internal policies
  • Collect and analyze data on program outcomes
  • Additional related duties and responsibilities as assigned

The successful applicant has a diploma in Human Resources Management, related experience or course work in employee wellness, health and safety or disability management, and a minimum of three years of relevant experience in a unionized setting. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

The successful applicant must have demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills including tact and diplomacy, independent problem solving, sound judgment, and the ability to build effective relationships. Strong communication, organizational and analytical skills are also required along with strong computer skills. A demonstrated ability to work and problem solve independently and successfully communicate and collaborate within a team environment is also required.
