Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, Water Treatment, the Laboratory Coordinator, Water Treatment is responsible for the safe and efficient execution of water treatment laboratory functions, including site sampling and QAQC implementation. To be successful, we are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, who has strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making abilities. In this role you will: Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies Provide supervision, technical mentorship, and training to lab technicians, lab assistants, water samplers, and technicians performing lab duties Manage internal and external laboratory procedures and sampling and advise personnel on process adjustments as needed Ensure that the laboratory quality management system is followed across all sites, including procedures, standards and QAQC Keep detailed records of laboratory spending and prepare monthly budget updates and forecasts Accountable for proficiency testing performed by all water operations staff, with follow-up actions as required Lead the laboratory data management, including the review of internal and external lab data, flagging data that needs validation Identify possible cost reduction and continuous improvement opportunities Execute the evaluation and validation of new techniques, procedures, and equipment Participate in laboratory audits across water operations sites
Requirements: Degree or diploma in Sciences, or other relevant subject areas Professional designation, such as AScT, P.T.Chem, R.B.Tech, or the ability to earn such a designation within six months of starting role Minimum five years of analytical laboratory experience Strong Understanding of QAQC in a laboratory setting Experience supervising or leading a team General knowledge of Water and Wastewater Treatment technology and processes would be an asset Strong digital literacy and proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite®, especially Excel and other data management tools Proficiency in VBA Macros would be an asset Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent
\n Salary range: 90, 000 CAD /year
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
