Project Manager - CIHR Institute of Musculoskeletal Health and Arthritis (IMHA)

Position Description
Based at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR)-Institute of Musculoskeletal Health and Arthritis (IMHA) Project Manager will be responsible for providing leadership on implementing IMHA Research priorities, under the supervision of the IMHA leadership as part of the IMHA Team. The IMHA Project Manager must have scientific training in an IMHA mandate area (active living, mobility and the wide range of conditions related to bones, joints, muscles, connective tissue, skin as well as the mouth, teeth and craniofacial region), highly developed analytical skills, outstanding communication and computer skills, and have the ability to learn new skills and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
Here's What You'll Get To Do:
- Support all aspects of the operations of the CIHR Institute of Musculoskeletal Health and Arthritis
- Support the development of multi-institute initiatives and activities by researching and synthesizing evidence and providing analytical insights to guide strategic decision-making.
- Support the IMHA Team in planning, organizing and carrying out national workshops and other events and activities involving various partners to identify and refine strategic research priorities.
- Support the IMHA Team in operationalizing specific projects that align with IMHA's strategic research priorities.
- Arrange meetings and prepare meeting materials, as required
- Develop briefing notes and slide decks for the Scientific Director and Assistant Directors, as required
- Support the Scientific Director and Assistant Directors in writing business cases to support the implementation of a strategic research priorities
- Support partner engagement related to the development of strategic funding initiatives.
- Use various data sources, data collection methods and funding analytics to analyze and report on relevant indicators that help CIHR-IMHA demonstrate advances in achievement of its mandate (i.e., evaluating the impact of IMHA-related research)
- Manage, curate, and analyze datasets using tools such as R to produce clear, accurate data visualizations and insights for decision making.
- Participate in relevance review activities and CIHR committees, as required
- Participate in CIHR IMHA Institute validation (validate funded projects for their relevance to IMHA's research areas)
- Prepare peer reviewed manuscripts to report on meetings and workshops, as required
- Remain current on IMHA-related research
Here's What You'll Need:
- A Master's level degree in science (MSc) relevant to IMHA as a minimum, PhD preferred, with a minimum of one year of relevant experience
- Excellent ability to critically think through and analyze complex information, identify issues and formulate recommendations
- Proven data analysis and visualization experience including familiarity with analysis/visualization packages
- Strong interpersonal, oral and written communications skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders to strategically position IMHA interests
- Highly motivated, flexible and willing to work in small team environment
- Ability to balance competing priorities and delegate if appropriate in what can periodically be a high stress environment
- Ability to work independently
- Experience in academic administration or a research funding organization
- May occasionally require travel and flexibility in hours of work to attend meetings and events
- Proven leadership skills are an asset
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
