Safety Administrative Support Specialist
Southland Transportation is a leading transportation company dedicated to safety, efficiency, and employee well-being. We are currently seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Safety Administrative Support Specialist to contribute to the success of our Safety Department.
This is a temporary position lasting 6 months with the possibility of extension.
This role typically starts at 6:00 am for an 8-hour shift but start and end times may vary between 6:00 am and 7:00 pm, based on operational needs.
Job Responsibilities
As a Safety Administrative Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in providing support to the Safety Department. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Offer administrative support in reporting, audits, program development, training, mentoring, and enforcing company policies and procedures
- Serve as a point of contact for Safety matters and coordinating with the Safety Lead for resolution of questions or issues
- Assist the Safety Lead with day-to-day departmental needs
- Prepare various departmental documents, such as reports, organizational charts, and company alerts
- Provide support to the Safety department for all pre-employment drug and alcohol tests
- Handle daily routine administrative clerical duties as needed
- Act as an administrative liaison for other departments and offices
- Support the Safety department with company safety databases, including TRIP & Webrisk
- Assist the Safety Lead with office emergency evacuations and coordinate annual fire drills and facility inspections
- Assist with the WCB case management process
- Support the Safety Lead with issuing PPE, maintaining inventory, and conducting PPE and inspection reviews
- Respond to employees in a professional and efficient manner
- Maintain all records, documents, and HR-related matters in strict confidence
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- 2 years of administrative experience in Safety considered an asset
- Knowledge of the WCB case management process preferred
- Professional and positive interpersonal communication skills, with experience handling confidential information
- Proven ability to handle multiple tasks in a high-paced work environment
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Experience working in transportation preferred
Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months
Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
