The salary range for this position is:

-Recruitment range: $69,052 - $76,129 starting salarydetermined by the PEA Collective Agreement. -Performance range: $89,791salary range ceiling is available through annual performance increases.

Job Summary

Mandate: The Kula Strategic Initiatives Coordinator (KSIC) supports the research enterprise at UVic Libraries by fostering and sustaining research opportunities across all disciplines on campus that align the Kula: Library Futures Academy (KLFA) with the research needs of UVic faculty, students, and staff as well as the wider community. The position supports the creation of new local and international opportunities for transdisciplinary research and community collaboration. The KSIC also participates in the day-to-day operations of the UVic Libraries Kula: Library Futures academy, including service delivery, event planning, and building programs that support the Academy’s work.

Objectives:

  • Support Kula program growth and innovation through strategic planning, platform implementation, programming and stakeholder engagement
  • Draft grant applications, environmental scans, and reports in areas of strategic growth for the Academy
  • Implement knowledge mobilization strategies (social media, web publishing, academic publishing) that articulate the value of Kula and transdisciplinary work
  • Maintain and evolve program documentation, policies, and procedures to ensure alignment with best practices, international standards, and library priorities in transdisciplinary collaboration

Job Requirements

This position requires a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a research-focused undergraduate degree plus a minimum of 2 years’ work experience in an academic library.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:

  • Commitment to truth, reconciliation, equity, diversity, inclusion, and fostering an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • Knowledge of academic library customs and workflows in research support.
  • Strong research mobilization experience within academic libraries.
  • Strong technical proficiency with web publishing/content development (WikiMedia, Wordpress, Social Media platforms)
  • Demonstrated organizational skills in meeting deadlines (grant applications)
  • Demonstrated experience working in transdisciplinary spaces or across multiple disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience working in international contexts.
  • Ability to apply project management best practices to achieve project goals on time.
  • Experience writing briefing notes, grants, and web copy.
  • Knowledge of current academic library conditions and trends.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate, build and maintain positive relationships with diverse individuals, and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Orientation toward continuous improvement and effective development of technological platforms that serve research needs.
  • Ability to identify and analyze issues, develop solutions and implement effective strategies to achieve desired outcomes
