PRIMARY TEACHER
Part-time (0.4 FTE) position
West Bay IB World School
Effective September 2, 2025 until the return of the teacher on leave or
June 30, 2026
*The annual salary for a full-time teaching position ranges from $59,*711 to $109,520, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. The salary will be prorated based on FTE.
Required Qualifications and Experience
This position is to cover for a teacher on leave.
A part-time teaching position is available at West Bay IB World School teaching in Grade 1. The successful applicant for this position must:
- Hold a valid BC professional teaching certificate
- be familiar with B.C.'s Early Learning Framework and passionate about supporting the holistic development of children with care and empathy;
- have proven teaching experience at the primary level, preferably in an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (IB PYP)
- be familiar with the BC curriculum and Core Competency documents;
- have experience teaching using an inquiry methodology;
- have a clear understanding of the characteristics of primary students and an ability to develop a positive learning environment addressing the intellectual, physical, and emotional needs of all students;
- be familiar with a Universal Design for Learning approach and a deep commitment to providing the supports and encouragement for all students to be successful, including planning for English Language Learners and neuro atypical students;
- have an understanding of self-regulation strategies to support all learners;
- have the ability to teach literacy skills through ‘effective practice' strategies, such as the UFLI Foundations program, literacy centres, reading strategies for comprehension and inference, graphic organizers, and writers' workshop;
- practise formative and summative assessment and have a thorough understanding of assessment through backward design;
- have a clear understanding of how student reflection plays an integral role in supporting learning;
- have proven ability and commitment to work collaboratively and effectively with other educators in a collegial team setting;
- have a strong commitment to positive and consistent engagement and communication with parents and other stakeholders;
- be familiar with and have an interest in supporting the goals outlined in the West Vancouver Indigenous Enhancement Agreement.
