##Position Description

The Communications Operator will operate a variety of telecommunications equipment to facilitate hospital communications.

Here's What You'll Do

• Receive, direct and reroute incoming and internal telephone calls
• Operate a locating console, including receiving and processing locating requests via a public address system and pagers
• Maintain hospital records as they pertain to communications
• Follow procedures for trauma calls (Cardiac Arrest, Code Blue, and Code 50) and other alarms, including notifying appropriate staff via the P.A. system and relaying information to outside agencies

Here's What You'll Need

• Grade 12 diploma
• Min. 2 years experience on a switchboard in a large autonomous, demanding and high-pressure environment
• Meridian Switchboard experience
• Strong customer service skills
• Ability to work well independently and as a member of a team
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work
• Understands the importance of and demonstrates a commitment to fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion

**Employment Type:**Fulltime, Permanent. Department is 24/7 - must have flexibility to work different shifts.
