How your role will add to the story:
The Senior Fixed Cost Controller Specialist is responsible for the planning and reporting function for wholesale Cost budget and investment planning for the entire company. As well as assisting the corporate controller in business case scenarios for potential new investment projects for the company. This position is responsible of steering the business units in the Budget planning and controlling overheads and headcounts for head office functions as well as investment for entire MB Canada maintaining informed HQ controlling about the status of task and target if that is the case.

The Senior Fixed Cost Controller Specialist is responsible in steering the business regarding the SLA (Service Level Agreement) validation of calculation between areas in MB Canada and intercompany. This position will be responsible in monitoring the corresponding charges and invoices between different areas and the compliance within the budget.

A day in the life:
Actuals & Reporting (20%)

  • Collaborate with Accounting and business units to review monthly accruals.
  • Act as an advisor to managers in formulating overhead budgets.
  • Reconcile payroll actuals versus accruals quarterly to ensure accuracy.
  • Consolidate and report monthly actuals versus budgeted results, with variance commentary.
  • Maintain reporting structures within SAP for all departmental overhead budgets.
  • Coordinate and execute month-end closing activities related to Fixed Costs.

Budgeting & Variance Analysis (20%)

  • Prepare financial plannings during during the year fixed costs (G&A and Marketing).
  • Evaluate budget submissions, identify risks and opportunities, and escalate findings.
  • Provide explanations for deviations between actuals and plans.
  • Regularly review and update allocation keys.
  • Support business discussions (e.g., MAD) by guiding units to provide required planning data.

Business Unit Steering (25%)

  • Oversee overhead and headcount planning for all head office functions and national investments.
  • Validate SLA calculations and monitor intercompany charges and compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to ICS controls related to fixed costs, such as PR approval thresholds.
  • Review purchase requisitions with business units to confirm budget alignment.
  • Uphold professional standards of compliance, integrity, and corporate representation.

Systems, Master Data, and Processes (25%)

  • Maintain and update master data for vehicle pricing, discounts, and cost centers.
  • Support financial system initiatives, upgrades, and performance improvements.
  • Oversee IMPACT and related interfaces (e.g., IRMA, KE30), ensuring accurate allocation cycles.
  • Partner with the Data & Digital Management Team to implement BI tools, improve data quality, and foster data literacy.
  • Coordinate vehicle and option pricing processes for Mercedes-Benz Cars.

Other Responsibilities (10%)

  • Map and optimize controlling processes.
  • Provide ad hoc analysis and support for cross-functional projects.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for financial reporting and system integrity

Qualifications

Mercedes-Benz Star skills, requirements & traits:

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field (CPA/CFA/MBA an asset).
  • 4+ years of experience in Finance, Controlling, or Accounting, ideally in automotive or manufacturing.
  • Strong command of financial KPIs, planning cycles, budgeting, and variance analysis.
  • Advanced Excel and SAP skills; exposure to databases, BI tools (Power BI/Tableau), or data analytics a plus.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to influence and present clearly.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail and sound judgment.
