The Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake is seeking skilled, reliable, and safety-focused Lifeguards/Aquatics Instructors to provide high-quality aquatic experiences at Town pool facilities and programs. Reporting to the Recreation Program Specialist, this role combines lifeguarding, instructional, and coaching responsibilities to promote water safety, skill development, and positive recreation experiences for participants of all ages.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor pool areas and enforce safety protocols, rules, and regulations.
  • Respond to emergencies and provide first aid/rescue as required.
  • Lead swimming lessons, Aqua Fit classes, and youth swim programs.
  • Support inclusive participation and adapt activities for all skill levels.
  • Maintain accurate records, assist with swim meets, and support facility operations.
  • Provide excellent customer service and represent the Town professionally.

Qualifications

  • Current National Lifeguard (NL), Lifesaving Instructor, Emergency First Aid Instructor, and Swim Instructor certifications.
  • Standard First Aid, CPR-C, and AED certification.
  • HIGH FIVE® certification is an asset.
  • Experience in lifeguarding, swim instruction, or coaching.
  • Strong observation, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Experience with ACTIVENet software is an asset.

Working Conditions

  • Seasonal position with variable hours based on pool schedules and program requirements.
  • Work is conducted at outdoor aquatic facilities.
