Cook reports to Food Services Manager/ Food Services Supervisor and is expected
to demonstrate commitment to resident safety by providing high-quality care in accordance with the organization's vision and mission.
Wage Rate
The starting wage rate is $26.04/hour.

Responsibilities
- Preparation of high quality, nutritious meals according to the menu plan, and the requirements as per Ministry of LTC,
- Ensures that meals are an experience rather than a task,
- Follows the cleaning procedures as established by the Food Services Manager
- Maintains a safe working environment,
- Assists in the First in First Out process of food and supply products
- Works collaboratively with all Food Services and other departments associates,
- Any and all other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- Chef Training or culinary management diploma or certificate granted by a College of Applied Arts and Technology or a private career college (preferred)
- Or a certificate of qualification in the trade of Cook or Institutional Cooked that was issued by: o (i) the Director of Apprenticeship under the Apprenticeship and Certification Act, 1998, o (ii) the Registrar of the College under the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009, or o (iii) the Registrar of Skilled Trades Ontario under the Building Opportunities in the Skilled Trades Act, 2021; (preferred)
- Has or is working towards the Food Handlers Certification provided by Public health or certified agencies, or
- In the reasonable opinion of the Home, have appropriate skills, knowledge and experience in the fields of institutional, health care, restaurant or hospitality cooking to perform the duties required of this position
- Minimum 3-5 years or related experience in long term care, retirement, hospital or hotel setting,
- Knowledge of special and therapeutic diets,
- Familiar with weights and measurements, recipe conversion and portion control,
- Knowledge of Ontario Food Premises Regulation and Canada’s Food Guide,
- Mentally and physically able to perform duties as assigned,
- Organizational and time-management skills,
- Individual and teamwork skills,
- Ability to work within a team while recognising the skills and abilities of others,
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing,
- Clear vulnerable sector screening (w/ in last 6 months), recent TB test results (w/ in last 6 months) or Chest X-Ray (w/ in last 1 yr), and two supervisory references required,
