What you need to know

  • The intention of this process is to establish a pool of partially and fully qualified candidates that may be used to staff indeterminate or term positions at NSERC and SSHRC.

  • This position falls within a directorate that provides common services to two funding agencies: the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC).

  • Priority may be given to candidates willing to work in the National Capital Region (NCR)

  • Note this position is currently on a full-time telework agreement which could be subject to change.

###What you will do

As a Quality Assurance Analyst, your responsibilities will include:

  • Plan, design, and execute test cases for web-based and client/server applications

  • Analyze requirements to identify testing needs and potential defects

  • Document and track defects, and work with agile teams to support timely resolution

  • Promote quality assurance standards and best practices throughout the development lifecycle

  • Support user acceptance testing and production releases

###What you need to succeed

####Education

  • Post-secondary degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field,or
  • An acceptable combination of education, training, and relevant experience
  • Foreign Credential Validation against Canadian Standards

####Experience

  • Experience developing and executing test plans and test cases for web-based and/or client/server systems
  • Experience in interpreting user or business requirements and translating them into effective test scenarios
  • Experience performing QA activities within an Agile software development lifecycle
  • Experience using Azure Devops –An Asset
  • Experience using automated testing tools –An Asset

####Competencies

  • Apply QA methodologies to design, execute, and document effective test cases
  • Analyze requirements and test results to identify defects, risks, and gaps
  • Communicate testing outcomes, issues, and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Organize and prioritize testing activities to meet timelines and quality standards

The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC; French: Conseil de recherches en sciences naturelles et en génie du Canada) is the major federal agency responsible for funding natural sciences and engineering research in Canada. NSERC directly funds university professors and students as well as Canadian companies to perform research and training. NSERC combined with the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research forms the major source of federal government funding to post-secondary research, and are collectively referred to as the "Tri-Council"
