Established in 2002, General Fusion is a global leader in the race to commercialize clean fusion energy. We are pursuing a uniquely practical approach, Magnetized Target Fusion, and aim to provide zero-carbon fusion power to the grid in the early to mid-2030s. Position Overview:

The Director, People & Culture is a strategic leader responsible for shaping and advancing General Fusion’s people strategy and tactics. This role oversees all facets of People & Culture, including organizational design and development, employee engagement, talent acquisition, equity and inclusion, total rewards, learning and development. The Director ensures that People & Culture initiatives align with business priorities, contribute to a high-performance culture, and support our mission to bring fusion energy to the world.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Strategic Leadership – Partner with executives and senior leaders to align people strategy with business priorities, providing data-driven insights and recommendations.
  • Culture, Engagement & Inclusion – Foster a respectful, inclusive, and high-performance workplace through engagement initiatives, DE&I programs, and recognition strategies.
  • Talent & Workforce Planning – Oversee recruitment, P&C Operations, and workforce design to ensure the organization attracts and retains diverse, mission-aligned talent.
  • Compensation & Total Rewards – Lead performance enablement and total rewards programs that reflect GF culture and market competitiveness.
  • Learning & Development – Build leadership and development programs and initiatives that strengthen organizational capability and career growth.
  • Policies, Systems & Compliance – Policy and program development, and compliance with employment standards, pay transparency and organizational culture and values.

Requirements:

  • University degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; master’s degree and coaching certification preferred.
  • 10–15 years of progressive P&C/HR experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role. Experience in technology organizations preferred.
  • Strong background in organizational design and development, compensation, and change management.
  • Proven experience in scaling HR practices in high-growth or technically complex organizations.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, coaching, and communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functionally.
  • Expertise in employee relations, DE&I, and engagement strategies.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems.
  • Strategic thinker with a proven track record in tactically delivery with strong analytical skills and business acumen.

The typical salary range for this position is $135-000 - $170,000. General Fusion considers many factors when determining total compensation, including job-specific or highly specialized knowledge, skills and experience, proficiency, job location and internal equity.
