The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking a full-time, contract (12 months)Senior Communications Advisorto provide strategic communications and marketing leadership for two priority initiatives: the Global Learning Academy and Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario (YWHO).
The Global Learning Academy advances CAMH’s role as a premier destination for mental health education and training, nationally and globally. Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario (YWHO) is a provincial network providing integrated, youth-friendly mental health, substance use, and wellness services for young people and their families.
Reporting to the Manager, Communications, with a dotted-line relationship to the Director, Simulation and Digital Education and the Executive Director, Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario, this role is embedded across Public Affairs, Education, and YWHO teams.
The Senior Communications Advisor provides strategic counsel, planning, and execution support to build awareness, strengthen brand positioning, and demonstrate impact for both initiatives across internal and external audiences. This role also provides day-to-day leadership and supervision for the Communications Coordinator, Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario.
Key responsibilities
- Lead marketing and communications strategy, planning, and implementation to advance strategic priorities and build public awareness of the Global Learning Academy and YWHO, ensuring strong and consistent brand positioning across platforms and audiences. Provide highquality content development and collaborate closely with Public Affairs, Education, YWHO teams, and external partners to deliver coordinated, strategic communications.
Global Learning Academy
- Identify and deliver opportunities to market the Global Learning Academy as a leading destination for mental health education and training.
- Develop and implement a content strategy across owned and earned channels, including web, email, social media, and media outreach.
- Identify partnership and amplification opportunities that extend reach and visibility.
- Work with external agencies to plan and deliver paid advertising and promotional campaigns.
Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario
- Increase awareness of the YWHO brand so youth, families, and communities understand available services across the province.
- Develop communications that demonstrate the value and impact of YWHO for youth and families.
- Support CAMH’s efforts to show systemlevel impact in youth mental health.
- Provide supervision, mentorship, and strategic direction to the Communications Coordinator, YWHO, supporting execution of social media, graphic design, and content development.
Job Requirements
- Postsecondary education in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field, combined with at least five years of experience in marketing, communications
- Demonstrated experience in brand strategy, content strategy, and integrated marketing campaigns.
- Experience working across earned, owned, and paid channels, including managing agency relationships.
- Experience providing supervision or mentorship to communications staff is an asset.
- Strong ability to translate complex programs and outcomes into clear, compelling communication
- Proficiency with digital communications tools and design and editing software (e.g., Canva or Adobe Creative Suite), and working knowledge of basic photo/video production tools.
Additional Information
- This position is based at CAMH’s Queen Street site.
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
Compensation & Benefits:
-Salary is competitive and based on experience, with a hiring range of$83,797.50 – $104,746.88 per year. -Employees in this role may progress within the full pay range of$83,797.50 – $125,696.26 per year -CAMH’s Total Rewards: Includes participation inHOOPP defined benefit pension plan, extended health and dental benefits, paid vacation starting at 4 weeks, flexible work arrangements, and ongoing professional development support.
