Make your mark while you grow your career! Canadian Natural is looking for a highly motivated self-starter to join our Well Abandonment Planning team. As a Well Abandonment Engineer, you will provide technical support and project planning for well abandonment projects, while following regulatory requirements and executing within capital budgets. You will manage planning, programming and report on execution of area based Well Abandonment Projects, working closely with the well abandonments operational team, and as part of the Drilling & Completions – Asset Retirement group.

Key Accountabilities:
- Work with the Asset and Asset Retirement team to build well abandonment programs for yearly budget and execution
- Communicate and work within multi-disciplinary teams (Pipeline Abandonments, Reclamation, Facilities, Construction, Cost Reporting) to deliver corporate and business unit targets
- Develop and design well abandonment programs (well-specific operational programs) through review of well history (well files) and past regional operations
- Prepare AFE cost estimates for individual wells and larger programs in a timely manner to prepare for efficient operations
- Review well abandonment costs and generate data for corporate asset retirement obligation (ARO) liability estimates and estimate well abandonment liabilities for economic decisions, or acquisitions
- Engage Regulators for variances (non-routine applications) to requirements when needed due to well operations issues or opportunities for improved methods/techniques
- Conduct analysis on executed projects and evaluate opportunities for improvement on both a technical and operational level
What You Bring to the Role:
- 5 plus years of industry experience preferably with an Engineering degree or equivalent
- Registration or eligibility for registration with APEGA as a P. Eng.
- Ability to lead technical change through all steps of innovation, development, risk management, implementation, training and sustainment
