The mandate of the Department of Justice is to administer justice, including policing, community justice, victims services and corrections in the Northwest Territories. This mandate will be carried out in a manner which respects community and indigenous values and encourages communities to assume increasing responsibilities.
Job Information
As the Civil Law Services Coordinator, located in Yellowknife, you will be reporting to the Manager, Legal Aid Commission Program Support. You will be responsible for all aspects of client and case management in the provision of civil legal aid, including child protection and family law matters. You will make judgments on individual cases with financial implications, affecting an applicant's family status, and determining the course of a client's litigation. You will work closely with various legal professionals of the justice system. Responsibilities include case management, compiling data for managerial and statistic reports, completing special projects and assignments. Demonstrating thorough knowledge of the legal system and civil law procedures is essential.
Key Qualifications:
- At least three years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a legal environment.
- Significant experience with child protection, family, and civil law.
