CBC Newfoundland and Labrador is looking for a Producer who has fresh ideas and technical expertise to create quality programming. You are someone who is eager to collaborate with colleagues to grow audiences by establishing best practices for treatments, formats, delivery schedules while co-producing our daily tv news show.

You bring experience and knowledge of television programming, innovative thinking, and a knowledge of how television and digital media intersect to benefit the audience. Working with CBC Newfoundland and Labrador’s news leadership team, you will help grow our audience and position CBC as a vibrant, relevant multiplatform service valued by audiences more than ever before.

Reporting to the Executive Producer, the successful candidate will bring energy, creativity and visual storytelling expertise. This includes generating daily program ideas and program content.

By vetting scripts, writing program continuity, editing video and creating graphics, the producer will take an active role in the overall content, texture and production values of the program.

In addition to co-producing the daily television program, the Producer must be an advocate for our digital platforms including our local FAST and YouTube channels. You understand how critical it is to contribute to our station-wide effort to ensure our content is discovered by new audiences.

You will support the assignment process by making timely daily decisions regarding content as well as lead tv special broadcasts when required. You will also work closely with the editorial leads of Digital, FAST and Radio Current Affairs to ensure sharing of story ideas and efficiencies. You will help determine appropriate story treatments to support a story-centric audience first approach to all content.

The producer should understand the wide range of communities we serve in Newfoundland and Labrador and be able to intentionally plan to reach and represent them in our programming.

Please note this is a Monday to Friday assignment with a 9 a.m. start time subject to change with operational requirements.

This role requires full time on site presence.
