Chemist - Geo Production
About the role
The Chemist – Geo Production will provide technical support to lab managers, process owners, and operation teams in identifying quality issue root causes, lead investigations into quality issues, and act as the lead for addressing quality issues at all stages of geochemical analysis including processing and testing of samples, and data review. The Chemist – Geo Production will develop, improve and customize current procedures optimizing them for Actlabs instrumentation and equipment, investigation of quality issues, review of updated drafts of QOP/QCPs, and helping to lead operations’ personnel in the implementation of new or modified validated and verified methods from the Research and Development group. Education Required: Minimum of B.Sc. in Chemistry with 2-3 years of experience working in a production analytical Laboratory setting. ‘Must Have’ Qualifications:
- Conducting root cause analysis and investigation on quality matters.
- Writing experimental proposals and report.
- Planning research projects and implementing them.
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Organizational skills
- Ability to handle several tasks at once
- Experience with formulating, performing and completing wet lab experiments.
- Experience with testing, developing and validating procedures from start to the end.-
- Intrinsically motivated.
- Strong ability to work independently, and as part of multifunctional teams.
Qualifications which are assets
- Demonstrated experience working with analytical instruments like AA, ICP-OES, ICP-MS.
Responsibilities: May include some or all of the following; or any other tasks assigned directly or indirectly by Lab manager:
- Investigating and performing root cause analysis of assigned client complaints and help with defining and Implementing CAPA for these tickets.
- Investigating and performing root cause analysis of assigned NCRs and help with defining and implementing CAPA for these tickets.
- Investigating and performing root cause analysis of redo jobs for processes assigned by Lab manager and help with defining and implementing CAPA.
- Helping process owners with formulating, testing and developing special wet chemistry methods requested by client for special projects.
- Investigating and addressing operation failures assigned by Lab manager including but not limited to: digestion/titration/fusion failure; calibrations failures; contaminations; and, IC/AA/OES/MS run failures.
- Review QOP/QCP updated drafts and help process owners finalizing drafts for QA review.
- Helping operations with implementing new validated and verified procedures from the R&D group.
- Attending and contributing to meetings addressing operational quality issues, concerns, solutions, and opportunities.
- Reporting completed/in progress tasks/projects to lab manager on weekly basis.
- Keeping track of all steps, time and resources taken/used for all completed/in progress projects to be included in yearly SRED application.
- Looking out for new advanced lab methods/procedures applicable to ActLabs, and presenting/proposing them to Lab manager to be discussed with R&D team.
- Responsible for improving current in use procedures to be more error proof with a goal of achieving higher level of time and cost efficiency
