Senior Business Analyst

Hybrid
Edmonton, AB
Senior Level
Full-Time

About the role

Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person. Work primarily takes place at North Campus, Edmonton.

The Senior Business Analyst (SBA) serves as a strategic partner and lead advisor for enterprise-wide change initiatives. This role is responsible for identifying, documenting, and managing business requirements while providing expert analysis to optimize organizational processes. The SBA acts as a primary liaison between business units and technical teams, ensuring that transformation projects align with the company’s long-term strategic goals and deliver measurable value.

The Office of Strategic Transformation and Delivery (OSTAD) is the engine room for the organization’s most ambitious goals. We don’t just plan for the future; we build the roadmap to get there. Our mission is to bridge the gap between high-level vision and tangible results by driving large-scale, cross-functional initiatives that redefine how we operate. We are a team of problem-solvers, dot-connectors, and catalysts. If you thrive in high-impact environments where "the status quo" is a challenge to be met, the OSTAD is where you’ll do your best work.

  • Strategic Analysis: Lead the assessment of current business processes and systems to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for transformation.

  • Requirements Management: Elicit, analyze, and document complex business and functional requirements using interviews, workshops, and workflow analysis.

  • Solution Design: Collaborate with stakeholders to design future-state processes and evaluate potential solutions (technical and operational) for feasibility and ROI.

  • Project Leadership: Act as the lead analyst on high-priority transformation projects, ensuring milestones are met and business value is realized.

  • Stakeholder Management: Facilitate communication between executive leadership, department heads, and IT to ensure transparency and consensus on project scope.

  • Quality Assurance: Define acceptance criteria and oversee User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure delivered solutions meet the original business intent.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field. An MBA or CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) designation is highly preferred.

  • 7+ years of experience in business analysis, with a proven track record in large-scale business transformation or change management projects.

  • Mastery of business modeling tools (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart, Miro), Agile/Waterfall methodologies, and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).

  • Exceptional negotiation and facilitation skills, with the ability to translate technical jargon into plain English for non-technical stakeholders.
