Position Overview
The Production Clerk is responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to the production department and assisting in the oversight of daily activities on the manufacturing floor. This role is crucial in maintaining the seamless flow of production activities through effective coordination, documentation, and team guidance. The Production Clerk will manage production records, track schedules, and help ensure that production goals are met, quality standards are upheld, and safety protocols are followed.
Responsibilities
- Compile and maintain records of the quantity, type, and value of materials, equipment, and supplies.
- Prepare and process production-related documents such as work orders and production schedules.
- Assist in monitoring production schedules and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Maintain accurate records of production output, materials used, and workforce hours.
- Report material deficiencies to production, purchasing, and quality control for resolution.
- Conduct regular quality checks to ensure products meet established standards.
- Report equipment and tooling deficiencies to the maintenance department.
- Assist in tracking inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods.
- Communicate effectively with team members and other departments to ensure seamless operations.
- Record employee attendance.
- Document employee transfers affecting wages.
- Manages the flow of materials by moving bins from the Quality Assurance hold area to the production line for required rework.
- Monitor and measure work in process to assist in estimating work hour requirements to meet production schedules.
- Troubleshoot minor issues on the production line and escalate more complex problems to senior management.
- Ensure employee compliance with legislated and Company health & safety policy and procedure.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Requirements and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent; a diploma or bachelor's degree in a related field is a plus.
- 1-3 years of experience in an administrative or clerical role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
- Strong data entry skills with high attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be self-motivated, results-oriented, and possess a high degree of initiative.
