Position Summary
Responsible for testing, maintenance and repairing industrial batteries and chargers at customer and/or Company branch locations. This position will report to the Field Service Manager.
Position Description
- Test, maintain, and repair batteries and chargers.
- Communicate daily with the team to determine work schedule.
- Plan and efficiently manage time and work.
- Work at the branch location and/or travel to customer locations.
- Perform planned maintenance, troubleshoot, diagnose and repair batteries and chargers.
- Confer with customer on problems and issues and review recommended repairs.
- Perform safety and operational tests.
- Quote repair costs, place necessary parts orders, and complete necessary repair paperwork.
- Pick-up and deliver chargers and other equipment associated with customer service work.
- Install batteries, chargers, and/or other battery related equipment as needed to support customer service work.
- Keep Company vehicle clean, organized and items properly labeled.
- Perform minor repairs to the vehicle, such as replacing windshield wipers.
- Service the vehicle by having the oil changed, tire pressure checked, etc.
- Pick-up parts and replenish vehicle’s inventory.
- Maintain accurate vehicle parts inventory levels in compliance with Company Branch Guidelines.
- Maintain all required safety equipment supplied with vehicle.
- Process miscellaneous paperwork.
- Complete all training as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Able to safely operate lift trucks and vehicles/service vans
- Able to sit, stand, walk, bend/stoop/twist, squat, reach below knee level, grip/grasp, work with arm outstretched, and work above chest level
- Able to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 lbs
- Able to occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 100 lbs, reach above shoulder level, climb stairs, climb ladders, torque, use vibratory tools, and pinch grip
Education and Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Valid driver’s license
- Industry related training and/or one to two years of prior experience (preferred)
- Able to read and understand hydraulic and electrical schematics
- Familiar with tools and equipment such as common hand tools, electrical/air tools, torch, arc welder, and various types of testing equipment
- Able to read and understand service manuals and microfiche, plan and follow-through
- Good organizational, customer service, communication and interpersonal skills required
