How does the role impact the organization?

Raymond James Ltd. is seeking a bilingual (English and French) Documentation & eLearning Specialist to work in our Montreal, Toronto or Vancouver office to join the Private Client Group (PCG) team in a hybrid workstyle capacity. Under the general direction of the Sr. Manager, Training and Development the specialist will integrate learning curriculum for courses and programs onto various learning platforms including e-learning, virtual learning, and web applications using multiple authoring and multimedia tools within the Canadian operations of Raymond James Ltd.

What will your role be responsible for?

  • Develop comprehensive documentation that meets organizational standards;
  • Develop training material both written and video for end-users;
  • Ability to develop process steps and scripts for video content creation, including periodic maintenance for policy/process changes;
  • Write user-friendly content that meets the needs of the target audience, turning insights language that sets our users up for success;
  • Evaluate current content and develop innovative approaches for improvement;
  • Research, outline, write, and edit new and existing content, working closely with various departments to understand project requirements;
  • Independently gather information from subject matter experts to develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation;
  • Work with development and support leads to identify all documentation repositories, revise and edit, and determine the best solution for data compilation and centralized storage;
  • Develop content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, with a consistent and cohesive voice across all documentation;
  • Identifying knowledge gaps and updating support materials;
  • Experience testing technical and business processes;
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts who provide the knowledge transfer to ensure appropriate course content and learner application;
  • Develop brand standards and maintain continuity of style of content;
  • Analyzing metrics to determine whether there is a learning need and define performance objectives; and
  • Ability to work effectively and collegially with multiple teams.

What do we expect from you?

To qualify for this opportunity you possess:

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent formal training) in instructional design, education, and/or a related training field.

Required Experience:

  • 1-2 years’ industry related experience in the Investment Brokerage or Financial Services industry as a technical writer. With a portfolio to share;
  • E-learning design/development and experience with e-learning tools (ex. Rise, Articulate 360, Camtasia, Vyond, storyboarding applications, Zoom, Survey Monkey);
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS);
  • Experience developing online courses;
  • Bilingual in English and French with experience supporting both languages;
  • Ability to communicate in writing in a succinct and organized manner; producing written materials, taking into account proper audience, content, format, and grammar;
  • Experience creating scripts for webinar recordings and e-Learning narration;
  • Intermediate level design skills that focus on reproducibility and Adult Learning Principles;
  • Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex topics;
  • Previous experience writing documentation and procedural materials for multiple audiences;
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail;
  • Experience working with project management teams to improve user experience;
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, with an eye for prioritization;
  • Excellent proficiency with MS Office Suite;
  • Excellent collaboration abilities (flexible and willing to assist others as required);
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to handle confidential information with tact and discretion;
  • The ability to work in a dynamic team environment and demonstrate a professional and friendly manner;

  • Strong presentation and writing skills;
  • Advanced skills with a video editing tool; e.g. Captivate/Camtasia/Vyond;
  • Knowledge of Articulate Storyline, Rise 360, Vyond, Camtasia;
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft 365 and SharePoint online;
  • Knowledge of a Learning Management System; and
  • Quick learner, dependable, professional, creative and innovative.

Salary Range:$60,000-70,000 annually, in addition to competitive performance bonuses/incentives.

Actual compensation will be determined based on skills, experience, internal equity, and other job requirements.
