The Temerty Centre for Therapeutic Brain Intervention is seeking a casual Research Analyst. The incumbent will report to the Manager and join a productive team in one of the world’s leading centres in treatment, research and training related to therapeutic brain interventions. Reporting to the Research Manager and working closely with the Principle Investigator (PI), you will support across several studies, including a Health Canada Regulated clinical trial looking at the effectiveness of psilocybin as a treatment for mood disorders. The successful candidate will assist in the recruitment, screening, and enrollment of study participants, as well as the administration of questionnaires, data collection and management, and maintaining research documentation according to the appropriate regulatory guidelines. Other responsibilities will include but are not limited to: supporting on research grants submissions and overall study specific research activities. The Research Analyst will further support the PI in project execution through the preparation of presentations, maintaining and creating databases, and preparation of data for analysis, literature searches and supporting manuscript preparation for publication as well as abstract preparation and submission.
The candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team. The successful candidate will have excellent capacity for self-directed learning/working and require minimal supervision. You will support and contribute to a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements.
This position is currently located at 1001 Queen Street.
Job Requirements
The successful candidate will possess an Honour’s Baccalaureate Degree in a health-related or social science discipline combined with one (1) year of relevant experience. Experience in working with individuals with addictions/or mental health challenges is considered an asset. In addition, the successful candidate must have experience with the following and possess the skills outlined below:
- Recruitment and enrolling participants into clinical research
- Conducting baseline and follow-up interviews in clinical trials are required
- Administering research questionnaires
- Data entry, previous experience with online data management systems is preferred. Data analysis and interpretation and/or using statistical software (SPSS/ SAS, etc.) may be required
- Strong PC software skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), online academic search engines (e.g., PsycINFO, PubMed, Medline)
- Detail-oriented and able to exercise initiative and good judgment
- Ability to multi-task and produce high-quality, accurate work while meeting deadlines and requirements.
- Superior interpersonal, communication (oral/written) and organizational skills
- Experience in summarizing and presenting data for presentations is an asset.
- Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language is an asset.
