About the Role
The Production Machine Operator is responsible for setting up and operating the cold saw to cut aluminum extrusions according to specified dimensions and tolerances. This role involves reading work orders, setting machine parameters, and ensuring accurate cuts for downstream operations. The Production Machine Operator is crucial in maintaining high-quality standards and efficient production flow by performing quality checks and adhering to safety protocols.
What You Will Do
- Machine Setup and Operation: Set up and operate the cold saw to cut extruded metal products to specified lengths. Adjust machine settings as needed to ensure precise and clean cuts.
- Quality Control: Inspect cut pieces to ensure they meet specified dimensions and tolerances. Perform quality checks according to the Quality Plan.
- Material Handling: Ensuring efficient material flow and organization, ensuring the Cold Saw is running consistently. Report any material issues, such as defects or inconsistencies, to the supervisor or lead hand.
- Documentation: Complete and maintain production logs, recording details such as cut lengths, quantities, and material usage. Communicate any discrepancies or issues encountered during production.
- Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Identify and resolve minor machine issues, such as blade alignment or material feeding problems. Conduct routine maintenance, including cleaning and inspecting blades, to ensure equipment is in good working condition.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to lockout/tagout procedures. Conduct safety checks on the machine and report any potential hazards to management.
- Collaboration: Work closely with team members in the extrusion and finishing departments to coordinate workflow and meet production deadlines.
- Cleanliness: You will help to maintain a first-class, clean, and safe work environment.

- Able to work full-time: Four days per week, 10-hour shifts
- 1-2 years of production experience
- Mechanically inclined
- Familiar with LO/TO PPE and safety policies
- Consistently wear prescribed PPE
- Reliable transportation
- Experience using computer software and applications
- Fluent in English
- Able to lift/push/pull/carry up to 35 lbs. repeatedly and stand for the duration of your shift
