Hu****man Resources Business Partner

The Halifax Port Authority is seeking a dynamic and experienced Human Resources Business Partner to join our team. Reporting to our Director of Human Resources, this role is all about helping to shape a connected, high-performing, and resilient workplace—where people thrive, culture is strong, and strategy meets purpose.

What You'll Do:

  • Support key HR initiatives and apply a proactive approach across various programs such as talent management, employee engagement, and organizational development
  • Develop and implement a recruitment and retention strategy
  • Champion a collaborative, values-driven workplace culture
  • Assist with labour relations strategies and collective agreement interpretation
  • Assist with HR policy and procedure development
  • Work with communications to develop HR-related content to enhance engagement
  • Assist with employee resource committee and related initiatives

What You Bring:

  • Proactive approach to continuous improvement and managing change effectively
  • 5 years in an HR generalist role, preferably within a unionized environment
  • Experience with Systems (e.g. HRIS, ATS, payroll)
  • Strong EQ, and next-level communication skills
  • A passion for collaboration, innovation, and creating belonging
