To support the daily production at Altium Orangeville and contribute to a cooperative work environment where fairness, equity, and non-discriminatory practices are the standard. A successful candidate will be able to maintain a balance between administrative tasks and changing priorities on the production floor to meet our Altium Performance System goals.
This job description has been prepared as a guide to ensure better communication and understanding. Your manager may, from time to time, ask you to perform other related duties not specifically included in this description. Likewise, this description will be revised as required to meet current business needs.
Safety
- Follow company safety rules and ensure all procedures under the Occupational Health and Safety Act are being followed.
- Address workplace hazards and unsafe behaviours promptly when reported.
- Complete monthly safety inspections and participate in JHSC meetings.
- Must be forklift certified.
Quality and Production
- Ensure compliance with company and plant safety standards according to applicable laws and regulations.
- Monitor daily production reports and take necessary actions to drive improvements.
- Participate in Daily Management Review (DMR) sessions.
- Support Production and Quality by maintaining line clearance practices, GMP, raw material and finished goods (FG) inventory, and material handling.
- Perform system cleaning according to priorities established at pre-shift meetings.
- Gather documentation for mock recalls, customer audits, internal audits, and corporate visits.
- Conduct training initiatives and GMP audits as scheduled.
Communications
- Participate in daily pre-shift meetings for all shifts.
Security and Housekeeping
- Greet visitors and contractors, ensuring proper safety orientation upon arrival.
- Answer main phone calls in accordance with Altium Guiding Principles.
- Perform daily line walks to maintain cleanliness and organization in production and quality areas.
- Support and participate in 5S implementation.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all company information, trade secrets, and processes.
Inventory / Shipping
- Support shipping and receiving by completing documentation and loading/unloading trailers when required.
- Perform finished goods and raw material counts as scheduled.
Daily Duties
- Support managers in administrative tasks such as training records, safety hazards, and system updates.
- Process Production, Maintenance, and Quality purchase orders (POs) in JDE following documented procedures.
- Maintain organized filing and order factory supplies in JDE as needed.
- Assist with health and safety inspections, corrective actions, and meeting minutes.
- Input SOS cards twice per month into AIC or other relevant software.
- Update DMR boards with OEE performance data.
- Provide on-floor training for new practices as outlined by the leadership team.
- Assist with labour planning, courier pickups/deliveries, and material handling.
- Support system cleaning and other production needs as required.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Business Administration, with 2–3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Flexible and self-motivated, with strong organizational, detail-oriented, multitasking, and administrative skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Coachable, professional, approachable, adaptable, quick learner, and self-driven.
- Proficient in navigating a Windows PC environment, including shared drives.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to learn new software quickly and a willingness to continuously develop technical skills.
- Demonstrates good and safe work habits and maintains a clean work environment.
