After Care Teacher

Contract (Commencing immediately until June 2026)

Hourly Wage: $20.00 - $25.00/hour

Hours of Work: 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm (Monday to Friday)

The After Care Teacher, under the direction and guidance of the Vice Principal, Junior School, helps to administer and facilitate the Junior School After Care Program. The After Care Program provides after school care for students in JK-Grade 6, Monday to Friday from dismissal until 6:00 pm. The program offers a variety of indoor and outdoor activities consistent with a play and inquiry based approach within a caring and nurturing environment. The After Care Teacher also has the opportunity to supply in the Junior School during the day.

What You'll Do:

  • Works collaboratively with the other After Care Teachers to organize and plan the daily After Care Program
  • Supports in planning activities for the students may include homework completion of the older students
  • Prepares materials for student activities that are engaging and educational
  • Creates outdoor activities that include a balance of free play and structured games
  • Supervises students on playground and indoors in all weather conditions
  • Liaises with other teachers and parents when required to ensure the needs of students are met
  • Communicates with parents on a daily basis during pick-up time
  • Administers and supervises daily snack with the students and adheres to health and safety protocols (i.e. student food allergies)
  • Tracks attendance of students

Who You Are:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in ECE, CYW, Child Studies, Education or another related field
  • Experience working with students 4 to 12 years of age in a school, camp or childcare setting
  • Knowledge of effective programs, sports and games that enhance the learning of girls
  • Current in First Aid/CPR preferred or willing to obtain
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
