About the role

Elk Island Public Schoolsinvites highly qualified leaders to apply for ourPrincipal Eligibility Pool. This competition is open to bothinternal and external candidateswho possess the skills and vision that align with the unique needs of our diverse school communities.

Purpose of the Eligibility Pool:

The intent of this pool is to identify a group of exceptional administrators to staff leadership roles for administrative vacancies starting in the2026–2027 school year,

We are specifically seeking candidates for two current vacancies at:

Being placed in this pool serves as the primary method for selecting principals for our schools. We are committed to fostering professional growth and ensuring strong, capable leadership across the Division.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Candidates must demonstrate excellence in educational leadership and meet the following criteria:

-Education:A Bachelor of Education degree is required; aMaster’s Degreein education, leadership, or a related field is strongly preferred. -Certification:Must hold a validAlberta Teaching Certificate. -Leadership Certificate:Must hold or working towards a validAlberta Leadership Certificate. -Experience:****3 - 5 yearsof proven success in a leadership role (e.g., Principal or Acting Principal) and a track record of high-quality teaching.

Candidate Preferences & Interests

To ensure the best fit for our schools, we ask applicants to provide detailed information regarding their expertise and interests in the following areas:

-Specialized Programming:Experience with or interest inFrench Immersion,Christian Programming,STEM, or other specialized learning environments. -School Divisions:Preference forElementary,Junior High,Senior High, or combined configurations likeK–9. -Geographic Locations:Preferred placement withinSherwood Park,Fort Saskatchewan, or theRural North-East(including Lamont, Mundare Bruderheim and Vegreville).
