Delta Hospital and the surrounding Health Service Area are looking for a Geriatrician to join our team in beautiful British Columbia!

Located at the delta of the Fraser River, Delta is surrounded by water on 3 sides and has a strong agricultural foundation. A quiet, safe neighbourhood surrounded by nature, Delta is ideal for outdoor living with many beautiful parks and scenic trails. Delta Hospital is a community hospital with primary, secondary, and some specialty services.

Fraser Health is one of Canada’s fastest growing health authorities, serving over one third of the population in British Columbia. The Department of Geriatrics in Fraser Health is a diverse group of geriatricians and care of the elderly physicians serving a large region. Our hospitals are affiliated with the University of British Columbia and offer opportunities for clinical practice, as well as teaching and academic research.

Position Overview: This is a part time permanent position (0.5-0.6 FTE, negotiable) expanding existing geriatric services at a site with an already active specialized seniors clinic with interdisciplinary geriatric team support and an inpatient consultation service. This involves consultative inpatient activities at Delta Hospital and ambulatory practice. There is no expected weekend or evening call. Remuneration is through Ministry of Health Alternate Payment Plan service contract model. The successful candidate will join our current geriatrician in Delta and contribute to academic and teaching components of the Service.

Qualifications:

  • Eligibility for or active FRCPC Geriatric Medicine.

  • Eligibility for or active full license to practice in BC.

  • Strong collaborative interpersonal and inter-disciplinary skills.

  • Eligibility to apply for a clinical faculty appointment with the University of British Columbia.

Delta Hospital is a 58-bed community hospital with inpatient and surgical day care and an emergency department that sees 34,000 patients per year.

Full/Part Time/Locum/Temporary: Part time permanent

Compensation: Through a Ministry of Health Alternate Payment Plan Service Contract.

About Delta Hospital

Delta Hospital is a primary care, Level II community hospital. In other words, it provides first point of contact services to the community that helps diagnose, treat, and prevent disease, illness, and injury. As well as a Rapid Access Clinic that provides some specialized care, it has 58 acute care beds; in addition, Delta Hospital’s Mountain View Manor has 92 beds as a residential care unit. The hospital employs over 580 people to provide quality healthcare to the community.
