About the role
We are seeking a Proposal Writer to join our Organizational Solutions Inc. team in Burlington or Calgary.
The Proposal Writer will partner with marketing, sales, and other partners to create winning proposals and to support other sales and marketing activities. They will play the leading role in the sales presentation and proposal process from start to finish, writing winning responses to proposal requests.
They will work with internal stakeholders to develop an overall response strategy, lead proposal kick-off meetings, gather and edit all relevant responses and then submit for input.
The successful candidate will manage a large volume of work with strict deadlines, and as such, must be flexible, able to prioritize, and will have a strong work ethic. They will also use their creative skills as needed to support marketing initiatives, tradeshows, networking events, social media, and company
seminars.
The Proposal Writer Will
- Ensure accurate and timely delivery of RFPs and presentations, aligned to the OSI brand and core strategy
- Prepare and have available different versions of proposals: Basic (short form), Custom (standard), and Large client customization
- Maintain an up to date and accurate answer bank for future presentations
- Co-ordinate calendar invitations for the RFP flow
- Research about the prospect and work with key OSI stakeholders to add exceptional value to the proposals
- Create and update templates and co-ordinate production workflow (word processing, graphics, editing, peer review, reproduction, collation, binding, and delivery) in support of the proposal
- Participate in debriefs on proposal outcomes
- Participate in strategic discussions to identify best approaches to support ongoing sales growth
- Support social media and public relations activities as requested
- Maintain an archive of marketing and communication activities
- Identify new opportunities for OSI visibility, such as new tradeshows, sponsorship and awards
To be successful as the Proposal Writer, you will need:
- Excellent decision making and problem solving skills coupled with, strong critical thinking skills, analytical reasoning strengths, resilience, flexibility, and an innovative mindset.
- Able to identify and integrate supporting visuals and graphics into the proposals and presentations
- Ability to clarify complex information and write persuasive, engaging content
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Excellent ability to prioritize tasks and proposals when faced with multiple, urgent challenges
- Superior communication strengths (phone, text, and email)
- Superior writing (including grammar, style, spelling, and punctuation), editing, and proofreading skills for accuracy and quality
- Highly skilled at researching and obtaining information via the internet, networking, and social media tools
All-Star Candidates Will Have
- Relevant education or Degree in Marketing, Communications, English, Business, or a related field would be considered an asset
- 3+ years of experience in a RFP writing role or in a similar marketing writing role (long form writing)
- Experience utilizing social media for sales outreach purposes; LinkedIn, YouTube, Twitter, etc.
- Graphic design and handling social media promotions experience is considered an asset
- Fluency in Adobe Suite and graphic development tools
- Understanding of disability management/workers’ compensation services or related consulting practices, is considered an asset
- Strong computer software skills especially Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Fully bilingual, English / French (written and oral) is an asset
