Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. Work site environment: Confined spaces. Work setting: Various locations. Commercial. Residential. Tasks: Install gas heating units and their components. Measure and mark reference points for installation of gas lines and equipment. Service gas heating units and their components. Install and maintain meters and regulators and gas lines between gas unit and gas meter. Advise clients regarding standards, safety features and maintenance of gas units and systems. Study drawings and specifications to determine the layout of the installation and materials required. Test and adjust control mechanisms and check pipes and piping connections for gas leaks using gas detecting devices. Test and replace defective equipment or components. Keep record of work performed and location and condition of equipment. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Gas Fitter Certificate - Level 2 or B. Gas Fitter Certificate - Level 3 or C. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Own transportation. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Tight deadlines. Physically demanding. Attention to detail.
