##Position Description
The Electrical Technical Trainer develops and delivers training for electrical maintenance and operations employees. This role ensures staff are equipped with the electrical knowledge, SOP understanding, and safety competency required for reliable and safe operation of equipment. Fully onsite and hands-on, this role supports Modine’s strong health and safety culture and is ideal for experienced employees who are passionate about developing others.
##Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver electrical training programs using classroom instruction, hands-on exercises, and competency assessments.
- Develop and maintain training materials including manuals, presentations, SOPs, JHAs, and demonstrations.
- Provide required electrical safety training, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), arc flash awareness, electrical safe work practices, energized work controls, and hazard recognition.
- Train employees on electrical standards, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting techniques, and interpretation of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
- Train employees on industrial electrical systems including power distribution, motor controls, sensors, and safety devices.
- Deliver training on PLC fundamentals, including basic I/O, logic interpretation, and interaction with automated equipment.
- Train employees on Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), including operation, basic parameter awareness, and fault identification.
- Coach employees directly on the production floor to ensure application of electrical skills in real operating environments.
- Support electrical troubleshooting efforts to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability.
- Provide hands-on coaching in systematic electrical diagnostics using meters, test equipment, and schematics.
- Support root-cause analysis of electrical failures and recurring equipment faults.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, Safety, Quality, and Operations to ensure training reflects current practices, equipment configurations, and electrical standards.
- Help standardize electrical procedures, documentation, and safe work practices across shifts and teams.
- Conduct competency checks and evaluations to confirm readiness for independent work.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments, certifications, and compliance.
- Update training content when equipment, processes, control systems, or safety findings change.
- Gather feedback to continuously improve training effectiveness.
##Required Education & Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 5 years of electrical maintenance or industrial electrical experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, controls, and industrial equipment.
- Demonstrated coaching or training ability in a manufacturing environment.
- Solid understanding of electrical safety standards and best practices (including NFPA 70E principles).
- Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.
