Job Description
The Manager, Technical Services provides technical leadership and governance across mine engineering, project engineering, and production geology. This role is accountable for ensuring that all technical disciplines are aligned, optimized, and executed to support safe, efficient, and cost-effective mining operations.
The Manager, Technical Services integrates planning, design, and execution to deliver short- and long-term mine plans, capital projects, and geological interpretation that maximize resource value and operational performance.
All Magna Mining team members are expected to work collaboratively with others, lead the way in health and safety, act with honesty, integrity, and foster an entrepreneurial spirit in pursuit of excellence.
Responsibilities:

Provide strategic and day-to-day leadership across Technical Services functions, including mine engineering, project engineering, and production geology.

Establish technical standards, review processes, and quality controls to ensure consistency, accuracy, and alignment with corporate objectives.

Act as the primary technical authority for mine design, sequencing, ground control, ventilation, and production planning assumptions.

Develop, implement, and continuously improve the effectiveness of mine engineering and geology standards within Magna Mining’s business context.

Guide the development and optimization of short-, medium-, and long-term mine plans.
-
Drive continuous improvement in planning accuracy, reconciliation, and production performance. Ensure integration between planning, scheduling, and operations.

Lead technical input into capital projects from concept through execution, including infrastructure, mine development, and optimization initiatives.

Ensure robust project design, cost estimation, risk assessment, and integration with ongoing operations. Support prioritization and sequencing of capital to align with strategic objectives.

Drive improvements in ore control practices to minimize dilution and maximize recovery.

Act as the key interface between Technical Services, Operations, Finance, and Senior Leadership. Ensure technical outputs are clearly communicated and understood, and that plans are executable in the field.

Align technical activities with budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning processes.

Ensure all technical work complies with regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and internal standards.

Identify and mitigate technical risks related to geotechnical conditions, ventilation, mine design, and project execution.

Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team of engineers, geologists, and technologists. Build technical capability, succession depth, and accountability within the team.
Requirements
Qualifications: Formal Education, Certifications or Equivalents

Post-secondary education in Mine Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a related field.

Professional designation in Ontario is required.
Work Experience: Nature & Length
-
10 or more year of mine operations, engineering and/or geology experience.
-
5 or more years of experience in a leadership role.
Key Competencies: Behaviours & Skills
-
Sound knowledge mine engineering and geology principles, practices and technologies.
-
Working knowledge of the Mining Act in relation to technical services.
-
Sound knowledge of technical services softwares as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
-
Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
-
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
