Description Of Work The Correctional Facility Administrator serves as a Warden IV and is responsible for the total operation of Craven Correctional Institution, which is a medium custody adult male facility with an inmate capacity of 850 and approximately 355 employees. Craven CI, located in Vanceboro, NC is a Diagnostic/ Processing Center.
Knowledge Skills And Abilities/Management Preferences This Warden position is considered Statutorily Exempt and is exempt from certain provisions of the G.S. 126-5(c17). Salary Range: $67,966 - $132,593
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
- Oversight, management, and administration including planning, organizing, directing and controlling the operational needs of the facility in an effort to achieve the organizational goals.
- Management and administration of facility services and programs (including records, human resources, custody functions, support services, maintenance, food service, medical, mental health and program services) to ensure they are adequately administered in accordance with departmental policy and procedures.
- The Administrator will interact with the community at large as well as the criminal justice community, volunteers, community resource councils, members of the general public, inmate families, Employment Security Commission, courts, judges and local law enforcement.
- This position reports directly to the Eastern Region Director.

If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.
Management Preferences :
- Documented supervisory skills in a prison facility
- Knowledge of facility operations
- Knowledge of prison policies and procedures
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of supervisory, administrative, or consultative experience in corrections or related work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualifications: Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
