Position Summary

Position Summary This position provides strategic analysis in support of medium-term (1-3 year) global supply chain plans, and identifies opportunities based on the following criteria: i) 100% reliable supply, ii) low cost, and iii) value creation. The incumbent is responsible for the development, preparation and analysis of key performance indicators to support management decisions for spot purchasing, offtakes, swaps, inventory management, logistics costs, etc.

The Senior Global Supply Chain Analyst provides ad hoc support to long-term commercial opportunities being evaluated by other functions, as well as analyses for cross-regional initiatives.

This position is responsible for leading the annual Global Marketing & Logistics budget process and developing the 3-year Budget Sourcing Plan. The incumbent also provides back-up coverage for the Planning team as required.

Position Responsibilities

Strategic Analysis Global Supply Chain

  • On-going analysis and validation of Global Sourcing Plan, recommending changes as required
  • Evaluate alternative long-term sourcing flows, global swaps, and third-party purchases
  • Annual review of bottoms-up global inventory targets
  • Analyze and make recommendations regarding Global Terminal Strategy
  • Global supply chain input related to regional supply chain initiatives, seeking globally optimal solutions
  • Supports the analysis to provide guidance on global purchasing activities
  • Member of Global Swap Team

Budget and Reporting Activities

  • Lead the Marketing & Logistics budget process
  • Consolidate and report SG&A for department
  • Draft the 3-year Budget Global Sourcing Plan
  • Responsible for coordination and reporting of KPIs for purchasing, offtake, logistics and swaps functions

Strategic Analysis Projects / Ad-hoc

  • Ad hoc analysis and support for Marketing regions and global teams as required
  • Provide analytical support to long-term commercial opportunities being evaluated by Marketing regions, Corporate Development, Business Development, etc.
  • Key Global Supply Chain contact for freight and sourcing-related requests

Tactical Planning Support

  • Determine, recommend, communicate, and implement near-term tactical supply chain plans in Planner(s)’ absence
  • Support preparation of tactical plan reporting as required
  • Maintains frequent and effective interaction with stakeholders including marketing and producing regions and Waterfront Shipping to ensure timely and high quality information is available for decision making
  • Supports reporting of methanol flows for preparation of Market Planning Outlook document

Position Qualifications

  • A university degree, preferably in a relevant discipline (i.e. engineering, business administration); MBA, CPA or other advanced degree considered an asset
  • ~5+ years of participation in multi-regional teams, within context of a globally operated business
  • ~5+ years of experience in an analytical role, ideally with experience in the development and implementation of key performance indicators
  • Expert knowledge of Excel and proven experience with financial analysis and data analysis; strong proficiency in other Microsoft Office applications
  • Proven ability to identify and deliver value-added cross-functional strategies and processes that deliver competitive advantage in cost, quality of service, people and environment
  • Understanding of the dynamics of a global commodity business that influence supply/demand and cost
  • Familiarity with chemical, energy, or industrial sectors, with an understanding of the distribution process for bulk commodity logistics in ocean vessels an asset
