Purpose of your Position - Non Union
Classification Summary - Union
A Development Services Clerk provides service to customers and supports planning and development administrative needs.
Duties - Union
-
Responds to telephone and in-person public enquiries and complaints; redirects more complex issues to appropriate technical staff or supervisor.

Prepares various standard correspondence for signature by managers, planning staff or inspectors.

Reviews development plan/building permit information and administers all processes related to creating/changing municipal addresses, in accordance with the City Numbering Bylaw; ensures effective notification of other City departments and various external clients and organizations; completes required documentation.

Maintains and updates a wide variety of manual and computerized departmental records and file systems; researches and compiles statistics; develops and maintains departmental library, filing and bring-forward systems.

Receives and inputs inspection requests to the City’s booking system; closes files ensuring all information is assembled correctly and required inspections are completed; generates Occupancy Permits for signature by inspectors.

Researches support material relating to development applications, permits and approvals.

Prepares location maps for inclusion in planning reports.

Responsible for clerical aspects of enforcement activity.

Types various reports, correspondence, advertisements, permit and forms using a computer system with various Microsoft Office products. May be responsible to maintain and update websites.

Checks accuracy of operating invoices and other charges.

Opens and distributes mail, makes appointments and confirms meetings and performs reception duties.
