About Us STEM Innovation Academy is a public charter school in Calgary serving Grades 7–12. Our high school campus, located in Calgary's University Innovation Quarter, serves 915 students in Grades 10–12 and continues to grow as one of Alberta's most in-demand STEM programs.

Our mission is to inspire the next generation to be knowledgeable creators, innovators, and responsible leaders. At the high school level, we combine rigorous academic programming with authentic STEM experiences, leadership development, and post-secondary pathways. Our Model of Instruction blends direct teaching and guided inquiry within a strong culture grounded in Character, Collaboration, and Curiosity.

Required Education and Experience

  • Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
  • Bachelor of Education Degree or equivalent recognized by Alberta Education
  • Experience in Alberta PE and other core/option teaching area is preferred

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies

  • Exemplary, evidence-based instructional practices in high school Physical Education and Career
  • Life Management.
  • Ability to teach another core subject or STEM option at a high school level is a strong asset.
  • Experience, confidence, skill, knowledge, and understanding of Alberta Program of Studies for high

school PE.

  • Creativity in planning varied on and off campus activities for High School PE.
  • Capacity to differentiate instructional practices and use effective student engagement strategies to promote activity and wellness.
  • Collaboration with staff team in developing innovative learning experiences for students.
  • Willingness and training to coach extracurricular sports teams at a high school level.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain trusting relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Willingness to adapt and grow in a constantly evolving environment.
  • Competent in using online learning support tools such as MS 365 for Education, Schoology, GradeCam, etc.

About STEM Innovation Academy

Primary and Secondary Education

We are a new grade 7-12 public charter school that offers programming that is unique in Alberta. The STEM Innovation Academy provides a well-rounded education with an emphasis on STEM topics - Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. We have a global focus and the program prepares students to be innovators and problem solvers.

Not only do we infuse the existing science curriculum with leading edge content, we are creating new courses that allow students to explore topics like artificial intelligence, medical technology, cryptocurrency, digital media and design, and energy and environmental technology.

We are global in focus. Recognizing technology is the future of every industry, we work with post-secondary institutions and industry to ensure our content is leading-edge.
