Detailed Overview

Under the supervision of a Food Service Supervisor (FSS), receives food and supply items and performs related stores duties such as unpacking, verifying, storing and distribution of goods; receives goods into a computerized purchasing system and performs related clerical duties.

Responsibilities

Receives, checks, unpacks and stores incoming food and supplies; ensures goods are delivered as per specifications; completes related paper work such as signing delivery slips; checks invoices against orders and goods received; reports discrepancies to the FSS. Receives perishables according to Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines and maintains associated records. Maintains clean, safe and orderly spaces including storeroom, warehouse, loading dock, freezers and fridges by ensuring product is stored in accordance with established procedures, including stock rotation. Completes inventory sheets for the FSS as per established schedule for ordering. Assists in taking inventory and random stock level counts. Moves frozen product from the freezer to the tempering refrigerator as per established schedule for quantities and dates. Prepares bulk orders of food and supplies on a daily basis for Extended Care bulk retherm system. Fills requisition and distributes food and supplies throughout the department. Follows HACCP protocol and records temperatures as per HACCP regulations. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Grade 12, plus one year's recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Food Safe Level 1 certification.

Skills and Abilities Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to deal with others effectively. Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. Ability to organize work. Ability to operate related equipment.
