Below are the details of the position: Java Software Developer Location: Toronto, ON Duration: 6-Month Contract Schedule: Monday–Friday, 37.5 hours/week Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Integration Developer with 8+ years of backend development experience to design, build, and enhance enterprise-grade integrations and RESTful services. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in API integrations, data transformation, resilient system design, and working across both modern and legacy platforms. This role involves supporting real-time and batch processing workflows, ensuring accurate data handling, and delivering reliable integrations within high-volume transaction environments. Key Responsibilities Build, enhance, and maintain REST APIs for backend services. Integrate with internal and external systems using JSON and XML payloads. Design and implement data mapping, transformation, and validation logic. Develop robust error handling, retry, recovery, and fallback mechanisms. Modify, support, and extend existing legacy applications and batch integrations. Troubleshoot production issues, perform bug fixes, and support deployment activities. Ensure data accuracy and consistency for pricing and transaction-related processes. Support both real-time and batch data processing requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable integration solutions. Work with upstream and downstream systems to ensure reliable data exchange.

Core Technical Skills Required Skills 8+ years of experience in Java backend development. Strong experience building and consuming RESTful APIs. Hands-on experience integrating with internal and external APIs using JSON and XML. Expertise in data mapping, transformation, and validation. Experience implementing error handling, retry, fallback, and resiliency patterns. Strong understanding of integration architecture and distributed systems. Experience modifying and supporting legacy applications and batch integrations. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex integration issues. Experience supporting software testing, deployment, and production releases. Preferred Skills Experience working within financial services, banking, trading, or pricing systems. Familiarity with batch processing technologies, PL/SQL, ETL processes, and job schedulers. Understanding of API security concepts including OAuth, access tokens, authentication headers, and authorization mechanisms. Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure. Experience working with high-volume transaction processing systems. Nice to Have Experience with enterprise integration patterns and middleware platforms. Exposure to microservices-based architectures. Knowledge of monitoring, logging, and observability tools. Experience optimizing performance for large-scale integration workloads.
