As the Vice-President, Rural and Community Services, you will provide visionary executive leadership to advance mental health and addictions care, with a special mandate to strengthen our rural services while ensuring that services across the organization are culturally responsive, trauma- and violence-informed, anti-oppressive, and accessible to all individuals, particularly those who experience systemic barriers.

To help the organization realize its long-term goals, you will build strong relationships with key external stakeholders and maintain a strong community presence across the region. You will work collaboratively with all stakeholders and partners to identify areas of improvement, seek out opportunities, and address challenges in meeting the needs of our communities. You will also focus on amplifying the experiences of communities disproportionately impacted by mental health and addictions challenges including Indigenous, Black, racialized, 2SLGBTQIA+ and newcomer communities.

WHAT WE'RE OFFERING:

  • What you'll be making - $68.63 per hour
  • When you'll work - 70 hours over two-week period; Hours will be Monday to Friday 8:30am-4:30pm, including occasional work outside of this timeframe to meet the commitments of your role
  • Where you’ll work – The organization’s administrative office is located in London, ON, however, this position will provide support throughout our service region including Exeter, Strathroy, Oxford, and Elgin counties. Travel across the organization’s service region will be required.
  • Your pension plan - Immediately enrolled in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)
  • Your benefits will be – After a 90-day waiting period, will be enrolled in extended health care benefits

HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING A DIFFERENCE:

Strategic Planning:

  • Lead the strategic planning and visioning activities which guide the process of developing, recommending and implementing programs and a portfolio work plan, including setting targets and tracking outcomes
  • Develop and champion strategic initiatives focusing on diversity, equity and inclusion across the organization
  • Act as the executive voice for rural programs ensuring that services match the current and emerging needs of specific communities
  • Lead the review and evaluation of funding opportunities, and program development plans that fulfil the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Values, as well as the organization’s strategic directions, with a focus on meeting community needs, and strengthening equity and inclusion
  • Work collaboratively with the Leadership Team to develop new programs and/or manage service changes that support the strategic direction of the organization
  • Review and evaluate program developments and changes, including cost estimates, development schedules and management plans; coordinates the submission of project recommendations to the CEO and CFO for approval
  • Coordinate funding applications, as needed
  • Ensure projects are completed in accordance with project goals, budgets, and timelines
  • Develop and implement operational/business plans, special projects, and policies and procedures as required and approved by the CEO
  • Maintain a strategic lens regarding the implementation of strategies across the region, ensuring alignment with the specific needs of local communities and current best practices provincially, nationally, and internationally

Partnerships and Relationships:

  • Ensures high visibility in local communities (representation at local tables, working with the communications team to manage internal messaging, traditional and social media plans for fund development and/or new initiatives, planning with community partners)
  • Participate in media interviews and speak on behalf of the organization at community events
  • Develops and maintain community relationships by working collaboratively, sharing information, and resolving high level problems with partners (community agencies, police, local government offices and neighbours)
  • Ensure connections with diverse and underserved community leaders and tables; work collaboratively to meet the needs of all members of our service communities
  • Actively participate on boards or committees relative to the portfolio, and informs the CEO of opportunities
  • Represent the organization as a member of community/provincial committees to share information and address program needs
  • Actively cultivate positive engagement with Indigenous people and organizations that emphasize respect and are in alignment with Indigenous principles

Additional Responsibilities:

  • The Vice-President will also have responsibilities related to people leadership, financial and resource management, and quality, performance and risk for leaders and programs within their assigned portfolio

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO APPLY:

Police Criminal Record Check Requirements
Successful candidates must have a Police Criminal Record Check completed in the last six months.

We require the following qualifications:

  • University degree or college diploma in relevant field of study ( primary proof of credentials will be required during the hiring process i.e. original degree/diploma or official transcript)
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in a leadership / supervisory / management capacity
  • Valid driver’s licence for regional travel, as required
  • Current, satisfactory Police Record Check

We prefer the following qualifications:

Education/Certifications/Licencing

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field of study

Experience/Knowledge

  • Public speaking; comfort with media relations and advocacy
  • Project management experience in developing new programs and/or leading service changes within the non-profit sector
  • Experience in developing and overseeing mental health and addictions programs within the non-profit sector
  • Experience with, and detailed knowledge of, mental health and addictions work
  • Experience with navigating funding agreements
  • Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience with budgets and managing program finances
  • Demonstrated ability to establish a high level of rapport with senior leaders in various levels of government, community partners and other relevant stakeholders and funders
  • Knowledge and understanding of philosophies, practices, models and frameworks associated with mental health and addictions services
