About the role:

The Registered Pharmacy Technician Subject Matter Expert (SME) using their experience and expertise as a front line technician they will support the Medication Management Transformation project by providing expertise in non-automation processes that impact daily pharmacy operations. Core responsibilities include developing orientation and onboarding materials, assessing and updating Pharmacy Technician workflows and guidelines, and supporting key functions such as missing medication resolution, DigiSense recalibration, Fluidose software upgrades, and the drug dictionary deactivation process.

What you'll do:

  • Work with the Operations and Medication Management manager and the Lead Automation technician to help inform and develop new orientation and onboarding materials to ensure pharmacy technicians are effectively trained on updated workflows and guidelines.
  • Assess current and future pharmacy technician workflows, identify gaps, and recommend updates to optimize efficiency and compliance with best practices.
  • Support the Operations and Medication Management Manager and the Lead Technicians development of new Pharmacy Tech Guidelines based on workflow evaluations and MMT project findings, ensuring clear and accurate procedural standards.
  • Support the Automation Lead technician in completing the upgrading and preventative maintenance of of DigiSense and Fluidose, to support accurate medication tracking and dispensing.
  • Support the ongoing project work related to missing medication investigations by working with the Operations and Medication Management Manager to determine where there are opportunities for improvement in the technician workflow of dispensing medication. Working with the HIS pharmacists to clean up the Meditech drug library by deactivating outdated or inaccurate entries in the drug dictionary to ensure medication safety and accuracy

What you bring:

• Licensed by OCP, education obtained from an accredited Pharmacy technician program (CCAPP accredited = Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs).

• A minimum of 5 years of experience as a registered Pharmacy Technician in a hospital setting is preferred.

• Strong understanding of clinical workflows and the ability to leverage automation to enhance and support these processes.

• Demonstrated computer skills

• Demonstrated knowledge of pharmaceutical arithmetic, pharmaceutical terminology

• Demonstrated excellence in communication, both written and verbal
